NACA Implements Good Aquaculture Practices Training Programme

INDONESIA - The Network of Aquaculture Centres in Asia-Pacific (NACA) has been selected by the World Bank to implement a six day training programme on Good Aquaculture Practices in Indonesia from 17-22 June 2013 under the ongoing World Bank Global Food Safety Partnership (GFSP) initiative.

The objective of this training is to deliver a comprehensive certificate level aquaculture food safety and supply chain management training programme aimed at providing factory level food safety supervisors and managers and government inspection staff with sufficient competency to design and implement Good Aquaculture Practices (GAqP) through the supply chain including food safety management systems and HACCP.

This training will comprise a six-day classroom and field based face-to-face programme. Approximately 40 participants from Indonesia are expected to participate in the training programme.

A team of six experts will deliver the course. The training course module has been developed by Michigan State University (MSU) and has five modules:

  • Introduction and background.
  • Food safety hazards.
  • Food safety practices for aquaculture production.
  • Food safety in postharvest and processing.
  • Food safety management systems-HACCP.

NACA will implement this activity in collaboration with the Directorate of Processing and Marketing and Directorate of Aquaculture under the MMAF, Government of Indonesia. The training course is only open to participants from Indonesia.
