Fish Exports Halted to Ensure Local Supply

OMAN - The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries will ban the export of six types of fish from 1 July till the end of September 2013 in order to help maintain stocks for sale in the local market this summer.

Each year, fish catch volumes drop over the summer period and so exports are controlled to ensure supply to the local market, reports the Observer.

To this effect, Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Dr Fuad bin Jaafar al Sajwani issued a decision banning the export of tuna, king fish, Al Sahwa, Al Anqad, Al Kofar and some types of crayfish.
