DOMINICAN REPUBLIC - In order to try and reduce the production costs of farming tilapia, artichoke has been looked at as a potential fish food alternative.

The objective of the work is to determine the potential of artichoke as fish food alternative in order to reduce production costs of tilapia and to promote aquaculture in the country.

In order to conduct the trials, students used tilapia fingerlings produced from natural breeding.

By substituting different amounts of artichoke into feed, the students are looking at survival rate, growth rate and the cost benefit analysis.
