Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission Meeting Begins in Mexico

MEXICO - The 85th meeting of the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC) has begun in Mexico and will continue until the 14 June 2013. The meeting should help to develop Mexico's fishery sector.

The meeting will bring together officials and experts from 22 countries, said the National Commissioner of Aquaculture and Fisheries, Mario Aguilar Sanchez.

It will be an international forum that will help strengthen and develop the Mexican fishery production potential in more than 11,500 kilometers of coastline.

The IATTC is an international organization for the conservation of tuna which regulates 20 per cent of the world's production of tuna, as well as being considered the most credible in terms of sustainable fisheries and marine environment protection.
