Minister Cañete stressed the importance of the fishery for anchovy in the Bay of Biscay as "emblematic" of the country, especially since it reopened in 2010.

Therefore, as well as its value and impact: "The government set it as a priority to continue with continuous monitoring of the quota allocated to our country, as well as another set of additional control measures, as the system of advance notice before arrival to port," added Arias Cañete.

However, said the Minister: "The purpose of government is always to ensure recognition of measures that allow greater flexibility and functionality for the Spanish fleet."
