China Starts up 1st Nuisance-Free Aquaculture Plan in Guangdong

CHINA - China recently starts up a plan of nuisance-free aquatic farming in southern China's Guangdong Province.

The nation's Ministry of Agriculture has committed itself to fully boosting the development of healthy aquiculture from this year, which will provide a big market in the country's green aquiculture industry.

Zhang Wenzhong, an initiator of the plan, expressed that the operation of the plan will employ the franchise pattern similar to the operation of McDonald's across the country.

He added that the plan will be expanded to the country's 38 regions, expected to achieve 38 million tons of nuisance-free fishing production, as well as USD 80 billion of production value.

Currently, China's per capita consumption of fish and shrimp in rural areas is only about 4 kilograms, 1/3 less than that of in the urban areas.

With the further development of aquatic products in the country's rural regions, the 900 million-plus peasants in China are expected to create an over-5-million-ton of consumption space in this sector.

In addition, in the future, the plan will also be carried out in the country's backland places including Gansu, Qinghai provinces and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
