CONAPESCA Supports Projects to Benefit the National Fisheries Sector

MEXICO - The National Commission of Aquaculture and Fisheries (CONAPESCA) is supporting 2,418 productive projects this year with an investment of 305 million pesos, to directly benefit 20,500 fishermen and their families.

Head of the federal agency, Mario Aguilar Sanchez, explained that through a specific program, 2,800 marine engines are being replaced. This is 60 per cent more than the previous year.

Under the direction of the Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food, Enrique Martinez y Martinez said the country must have a policy that encourages sustainable production and allows the transit of the industry.
