Cermaq Seeks Stakeholder Input on Sustainability Reporting

14 November 2013

CANADA - Mainstream parent company Cermaq is inviting stakeholder input about sustainability reporting, and everyone is invited to participate.

Cemaq’s ambition is to be a global leader in sustainable aquaculture. The company knows that sustainability reporting and follow-up of progress is vital.

Cermaq has been recognized for the high quality of its reporting over the last years, but is always striving to improve.

Consequently, Cermaq has invited its stakeholders to advise on the scope and profile of the company's future sustainability reporting.

Who can participate?

Cermaq is primarily seeking input from organizations, companies, authorities, investors, financial institutions and other entities that are directly involved with or impacted by fish farming industry or who constructively engage in seeking industry improvement.

Based on geographical location, contacts with external stakeholders have been biased towards Norwegian stakeholders, and Cermaq is excited about the possibilities of receiving input from relevant stakeholders in other countries/regions as well.

What type of input is most useful?

Cermaq is reporting according to Global Reporting Initiatives (GRI) with addition of customized areas and indicators addressing specifics related to fish farming, see our integrated annual report for 2012. Cermaq is divesting its fish feed business, EWOS, and will in the future report as a salmon farming company with less emphasis on the feed sector.

The reporting is based on defining material content, i.e. the topics and aspects that are most important to internal and external stakeholders.

Examples of aspects and topics are: Occupational Health and Safety, Indigenous peoples rights, Human rights, Fish health, Biodiversity, Energy use, Financial support to local communities etc.

On the feedback form you will find a complete list of all the topics that could be relevant. We also welcome other input that you may consider important.
