Increase for Iceland's Total Catch in October

ICELAND - The total catch of Icelandic vessels in October 2013 increased by 3.3 per cent at constant prices.

The total catch of Icelandic vessels in October 2013 was 87,893 tonnes compared to 99,222 tonnes in October 2012, reports Statistics Iceland.

Demersal species accounted for 44,700 tonnes, thereof cod 23,600 tonnes, haddock 4,700 tonnes, redfish 6,100 tonnes and saithe 6,800 tonnes.

The pelagic catch was 39,600 tonnes, thereof herring 35,600 tonnes and mackerel 3,400 tonnes.

At constant prices the volume of the catch increased by 3.3 per cent in October 2013 compared with October 2012.
