Spain Awaits Vote on the EU Fisheries Protocol with Morocco11 December 2013
SPAIN - The Secretary General of Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, Carlos Dominguez, is in Strasbourg to attend the debate and subsequent vote on the Protocol between the European Union and Morocco.
Mr Dominguez expressed his confidence that the Parliament will ratify the agreement, which is an improvement over the previous protocol, since the fishing opportunities for the EU fleet are increased.
The new protocol will return a hundred Spanish fishing vessels to Moroccan waters, mostly of traditional character, with more than 700 crew members, mainly from Andalusia and the Canary Islands.
The protocol has a term of four years, with an approximate 40 million for each of the four years of the agreement.
