The SWFPA, which is a constituent member of the Scottish Fishermen’s Federation, produced the short film – ‘Sea to Plate’ - to explain to consumers how Scottish haddock is caught, landed, processed and delivered to the end customer.

The Scottish North Sea haddock fishery holds the prestigious Marine Stewardship Council eco-label for its sustainability and the responsible fishing methods utilised. The film follows the journey of the haddock from being caught by the North Sea trawler Budding Rose through to being landed at Peterhead market, processed in Aberdeen by Couper Seafoods, and then finally served up at the Bay Fish and Chips shop in nearby Stonehaven.

Mike Park, chief executive of the SWFPA, said: “Haddock is the mainstay of the Scottish fleet and there is a great story to tell here of the sustainability of the fishery and the excellent quality of the product.

“Scottish fishermen are working hard to ensure the sustainable catching of our precious seafood and this short film underlines that commitment.”
