Banana, the region's major agriculture product posted an 11.6 per cent increase in the total Philippine output along with coconut (3.1 percent increase), fishery (six percent increase), and livestock (two percent increase).

Banana still topped the region's agricultural crop production and posted the highest growth at 15.8 percent compared to 2004. Products like banana, mango, corn, rubber and pineapple expanded while palay, sugarcane and coffee reported declines in production.

Municipal and commercial fishing posted improvements but aquaculture slackened resulting in a slight margin for the sector. Livestock production improved by 4.3 percent in the regional output but the poultry industry pulled down the sector's growth.

Export receipts improved by 25 percent in 2005, with most agricultural products included in the top ten export commodities like banana, pineapple and asparagus.
