19 February 2014

EU - The Moroccan Parliament has ratified the Fisheries Partnership Agreement with EU.

More than 100 European vessels will now be able to fish in Moroccan waters again, in return for a sum of €40 million paid by the EU.

The Spanish Minister of Agriculture, Food and Environment, Miguel Arias Cañete described the decision as one of "the most important achievements of the Fisheries Policy".

Mr Arias Cañete highlighted the "great harmony established between Morocco and Spain to implement this important agreement for the fishing industry. "Similarly, the Minister has assessed its approval "in record time for these procedures" by the European Parliament last December.

Once you proceed to the official signing of the agreement between the authorities of both parties, the Moroccan waters will remain open for a hundred Spanish fishing vessels, as well as two dozen vessels from other Member States of the EU.
