Qingdao Seafood Prices up in January

CHINA - The Qingdao investigation team of the National Bureau of Statistics of China released statistics concerning Qingdao's January Consumer Price Index (CPI) on 17 February.

Qingdao CPI increased by 1.3 per cent in January compared with the previous month – affected by the Spring Festival - an increase of 2.2 per cent compared to the same period last year.

The price of food rose 4.6 per cent year on year, industrial products rose 0.9 per cent and service prices 1.6 per cent.

Prices of some food - such as rice, pork, egg, seafood, vegetables and fruits - rose compared to the previous month.

The price of vegetables in Qingdao rose 19.8 per cent compared to the previous month, and the price of fruits increased by 24 per cent compared to December - a year on year increase of 36.2per cent.
