VIET NAM - According to the General Department of Viet Nam Customs, the country's goods exports to Australia in January 2014 reached $294.47 million, up 4.1 per cent from the previous month and 24.1 per cent from the same period of 2013.
Major exported products included oil products, electronics, telephone handsets, seafood (mainly shrimp), machinery, equipments, cashew nuts, furniture, timber products and footwear, reports VASEP.
Seafood exports to the market hit $19.58 million, up 31.5 per cent year on year.
Despite currently small export volume to Australia, exports from Viet Nam to the market pose a lot of potentiality thanks to geographic proximity.
Besides, the free trade agreement between Australia and ASEAN, including Viet Nam, will facilitate Viet Nam's exports to the market in the future.
