Tilapia Imports Threaten Ghana's Fisheries Sector

07 March 2014

GHANA - The Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Nayon Bilijo, says the Ministry will do all it can to deliver the needed support to improve fish farming in Ghana to significantly enhance fish production locally.

According to him, the importation of tilapia into the country is threatening the fisheries sector, reports the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation.

Mr Bilijoe said this during a working visit accompanied by the Israeli Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Yair Shamir, who paid a working visit to Raanan Fish Feed West Africa, to familiarize themselves with the production of fish feed for the local and international markets at Prampram.
