Ca Mau to Develop More Industrial Shrimp Farming in 2014

VIET NAM - In 2014, Ca Mau city plans to expand its industrial shrimp farming area to 1,100 hectares.

So far this year, local farmers have stocked shrimp on the area of over 812 hectares, completing 73 per cent of its plan, reports VASEP.

To raise shrimp productivity, local authorities are in the process of building three-phase power for industrial shrimp farming areas. Besides, they also guide farmers to stock shrimp in compliance with crop schedule, farm intensive and semi-intensive whiteleg shrimp and black tiger shrimp under extensive and innovated extensive model, develop rice-shrimp farming model.

Controlling shrimp seed quality, preventing diseases on shrimp, particularly shrimp reared under industrial farming model is also strengthened.
