Fish Workers Trained on Fish Handling and Hygiene

BOLIVIA - The National Agricultural Health and Food Safety Authority (SENASAG) organised a workshop in Beni district to train workers in the fisheries and aquaculture sectors on hygiene and handling of fish meat.

The district head of Beni SENASAG, Dr Carmen Monasteries, indicated that this training workshop will be held every 15 days.

In this first workshop, fishery harvest, handling, marketing, sale, and also diseases that can be transmitted through poor handling and contamination of fish flesh were discussed.

President of the Association of Fishermen of Beni, Pedro Cholima, said the workshops are positive as they help fishermen and traders learn more about the management and handling of food especially fish meat that is very delicate.
