VIET NAM - Insurance brings a lot of benefits to farmers. Without insurance, farmers must spend VND120 billion to recover their cultivation after losses caused by diseases.
In early April 2014, Ca Mau province held a meeting to summarise results after implementing the Decision No.315/Q?-TT of the Prime Minister on pilot implementation of agricultural insurance during 2011-2013, reports VASEP.
In Ca Mau province, agricultural insurance was implemented for shrimp farming areas in Dam Doi and Cai Nuoc districts. So far, insurance was purchased by 1,611 local farming households with total value of VND410 billion and the insurance cost of VND30 billion in which VND18 billion comes from the state budget and VND12 billion was paid by farmers.
The Government will continue to expand agricultural insurance with an aim to help poor farmers in Ca Mau province reduce losses and maintain sustainable cultivation.?
