Government Technicians Trained in Management and Breeding of Tilapia

ECUADOR - The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries (MAGAP), has developed a tilapia management training workshop which covers pond preparation for planting fingerlings, fish feed, food calculations, harvest and post-harvest, in the city of Macas, Morona Santiago province.

With the participation of 33 technicians from the provinces of Azuay, Canar and Morona Santiago, the workshop explained the theoretical and practical way of the management and breeding of the species.

Hugo Regalado, Zonal Director of Aquaculture and Fisheries Zone 6, said the purpose of the workshop was to develop the knowledge of fish producers in all provinces in Zone 6.

Vanessa Rojas, representative of the Secretariat of Aquaculture and instructor of theory and practical workshop stressed that the essential purpose of the training is to introduce them to the basic technical concepts in the management of tilapia.
