VENEZUELA - A significant increase in fish production during the Easter season was evident in the capture of 15,000 kilos of fish in coastal Vargas state, by the Council People's Power Fishermen and Fisherwomen (Conppa) La Zorra.
The information was provided by Edgar Moreno, Conppa, who noted that baldric had higher production this season with a harvest of 10,000 kilos and gold with a catch of 3.5 million kilos.
Fishermen experienced good weather with no rain or high tides, helping the increased catch.
He also noted that the elimination of industrial trawling may have also influenced the increase in production in recent years, although the recovery of the marine ecosystem takes time.
