Panabo City Conducts Tilapia Hatchery Seminar

22 May 2014

PHILIPPINES - The City Government of Panabo through the City Agriculturist Office (Cagro) conducted a Tilapia Hatchery Seminar at Barangay Consolacion on May 12, 2014 through the request of the Consolacion Fisherfolk Association (CFA) for them to be equipped with new technology on breeding tilapia fingelings.

Executive Secretary Jovito M. Glodo, representative of Panabo City Mayor Jose L. Silvosa, Sr, stressed that this project is one of the poverty reduction programmes and encourages the group to register their association to the Department of Labor and Employment to avail livelihood assistance for business expansion.

Aquaculture Project Head, Aproniano Niñeza, said that he was proud of the CFA members due to their determination to pursue the project not only on tilapia production but also tilapia hatchery. He considered it as difficult because breeding fingerlings needs more monitoring and focus that is why he will do everything to help the group.

CFA President Danilo Al-ag was grateful to the City Government for the unwavering support in aquaculture project especially in Barangay Consolacion.

Last April 21, 2014 during the Araw ng Consolacion, CFA just harvested 254 kilos of tilapia which motivated them to continue their endeavor in helping others who have difficulty in starting their tilapia business.
