CHINA - Chinese group Weihai International Economic and Technical Cooperation (WIETC) is looking for a Portuguese partner for an aquaculture project in the city of Beira, in Mozambique, the group’s deputy chairman, Wu De Dang said Friday."As part of our company’s strategy we want to slowly let go of our aquaculture projects. Therefore we want to sell over 50 percent of the company in Mozambique, as aquaculture is far from being our core business," Wu said.
WIETC core businesses are exporting services and labor, public works and infrastructure construction and training and hiring out of fishing crews, Wu said.
"What we are looking for is a company that has experience in aquaculture, whether in partnership or even for sale of the entire operation,” said Hao Lizhi, the project’s director in Mozambique, who valued the entire project at US$17 million.
