Government Sets Fishing Season for Dorado

PERU - The Ministry of Production (PRODUCE) has set the fishing season for Dorado as 1 October to 30 April each year and therefore fishing is suspended from 1 May to 30 September.

This action was taken following a scientific recommendation from the Sea Institute of Peru (IMARPE), which carried out continuous marine resource assessments.

The fishing ban seeks to protect the biomass of this important marine resource.

It should be noted that the period of closed fishing season and may be modified upon recommendation of IMARPE, that it will continue monitoring and biological monitoring of key indicators, and fish populations of the parakeet.

Those individuals and companies that contravene the provisions of the rule will be punished according to the Single Text Sorting Regulations Inspections and Sanctions Fisheries and Aquaculture (RISPAC).

It is noteworthy that this resolution will be effective from 13 July this year.
