King Mackerel Trip Limit to Decrease in Florida West Coast Northern Subzone

13 October 2014

US - The daily vessel trip limit has been reduced to 500 pounds beginning 12:01 a.m., local time, October 13, 2014, for king mackerel in the Florida west coast northern subzone.

This subzone is located in federal waters of the Gulf of Mexico east of the Alabama/Florida state line and along Florida's west coast to the Lee/Collier County line (see Eastern Zone, Northern Subzone in map below).

NOAA Fisheries is reducing the trip limit because 75 per cent (or 134,136 pounds) of the 178,848-pound quota is projected to have been taken by this time.

The 500-pound daily trip limit will remain in effect until the quota is reached or through the end of the fishing year, June 30, 2015, whichever occurs first.
