Chinese Aquatic Product Prices Show Slight Fall

CHINA Chinese farm produce prices fell slightly in the second week of October, according to a survey of prices in 36 medium and large cities by the Ministry of Commerce.

The prices of poultry and eggs saw a steady decline, with the price of chicken remaining the same and price of eggs down 1.5 per cent.

The price of meat also saw a decline, with the prices of pork and mutton down 0.9 per cent and 0.4 per cent respectively, while beef remained the same as the previous week.

The average price of aquatic products was down 0.8 per cent compared to the previous week. Among the prices that saw a fall large yellow croaker, small hairtail and large hairtail were down 3.6 per cent, 1.9 per cent and 1.7 per cent respectively.

The average wholesale price of 18 vegetables was down 0.3 per cent week on week, although the prices of cabbage, white turnip and green pepper were up 7.3 per cent, 4.2 per cent and 3.8 per cent respectively.

The retail price of edible oil remained stable, with the prices of soybean oil and peanut oil remaining the same as the previous week, and price of rape seed oil down 0.3 per cent.

The price of rice maintained steady as a whole and price of flour increased by 0.3 per cent compared to the previous week.
