NORTHERN IRELAND, UK - A Co Fermanagh poultry company pleaded guilty and was fined £2,000 for making a polluting discharge to a waterway.

Newsletter reports that Western Brand Poultry Products (NI) Ltd of Screevagh, Lisnaskea, also had to pay £28 court costs and a £15 offenders’ levy as well as £3,949.70 fish restocking costs.

Enniskillen Magistrates’ Court heard that on July 10, 2013 the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) investigated a fish kill in the Moorlough River near Lisnaskea.

It was subsequently found that three kilometers of river had been affected, with 2,760 dead adult fish plus several thousand more dead juvenile fish.
