Draft Shark Biodiversity Plan Open for Public Comment

SOUTH AFRICA - Environmental Affairs Minister Edna Molewa has called on the public to comment on the draft Shark Biodiversity Management Plan.

“Notice is hereby given in terms of section 100(1)(b) of the Act, that the public may submit comments on the draft plan,” the Department of Environmental Affairs said.

The plan is aimed at attaining and maintaining a favourable conservation status for resident and migratory sharks within the country, taking into account the socio-economic value of these species.

The public can submit its comments on the plan no later than 16:00 on 25 January 2015.
