New Ice Glaze Regulation on Exported Pangasius Delayed

VIET NAM - On the last day of 2014, at the regular meeting of government, the new regulation on ice glazing of 10 per cent and 83 per cent humidity on exported pangasius products under Decree of No. 36, effective on January 1 2015 was decided to be delayed until next year by the government.

Previously, some pangasius exporters in An Giang Province have filed a petition to the government asking to delay the effective date of the decree by a year, reports VASEP.

Seafood businesses say they acknowledge that the new rule is intended to increase the quality of Vietnamese pangasius exports, but it should have been implemented in a pilot scheme to measure the market reaction before being officially put into effect.
