Seafood Availability Guaranteed During Lent

MEXICO - The National Commissioner of Aquaculture and Fisheries, Mario Sanchez Aguilar said a good supply of seafood is readily available for the whole country as Lent is about to begin.

It is thought that from today (February 18) to Sunday 29 March, around 270,000 tonnes of fishery and aquaculture products will be sold, said the head of the National Commission of Aquaculture and Fisheries (CONAPESCA).

In this period the most abundant species are sardines, tuna, squid, octopus, trout, catfish, shrimp, tilapia, oysters, tilapia, grouper, sea bass and crab.

These species can be found at affordable prices in different markets, said the official from the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA).
