Surveying the Global Mycotoxin Threat

GLOBAL - Biomin has launched an infographic providing a global view of mycotoxin occurrence and the main trends from its latest Mycotoxin Survey.

The prevalence of mycotoxins, toxic fungal metabolites found in almost all types of agricultural feedstuffs and grains, is a major concern with regards to feed contamination and presents a genuine risk to livestock animal production.

This infographic provides a global view of mycotoxin occurrence and main trends using data from the most recent annual Biomin Mycotoxin Survey.

Among the highlights of the survey are:

  • North America has registered the highest average values for zearalenone and fumonisins
  • Europe recorded the highest average concentration of deoxynivalenol, and
  • A typical agricultural commodity contains 30 different metabolites.

The Biomin Mycotoxin Survey constitutes the longest running and most comprehensive survey of its kind, using state-of-the-art analytic tools on more than six thousand samples taken from 64 countries worldwide.
