With an eye towards Europe

With an eye towards Europe - NORWAY - Fiskeriforskning is strengthening its collaboration with European research communities and becomes the second Norwegian member of EFARO.

So saying, Fiskeriforskning, together with the Institute of Marine Research (IMR), will represent Norwegian marine research interests in Europe. EFARO is a European forum which has as a goal to stimulate European collaboration in the fisheries and within aquaculture research.

Also, the forum will organise it such that the member organisations can help each other with use of infrastructures and in other situations where this is natural, both geographically and thematically, and produce synergy effects of such a collaboration. Fiskeriforskning's vision of "Greater value from the sea" fits well in with EFARO's work, which also has as a goal to work with economic and social issues within fishing and aquaculture.

Playing on teams with the best

Managing Director Ivan C. Burkow is very pleased that Fiskeriforskning will now help decide the road forward for European research within fishing and aquaculture.

"Fiskeriforskning can now help lay the premises for marine research in Europe, and we are getting the opportunity to play on teams with the best actors in this area", says Burkow. Fiskeriforskning became a member in EFARO on 2 June this year. You can read more about EFARO on the forum's web pages.
