Print This Page Japan tightens inspection on Vietnam seafood imports
VIETNAM - Japan, one of the major importers of food from Vietnam, will tighten quality inspections concerning the content of antibiotics on cuttlefish imported from Vietnam.Japan will focus on the content of the antibiotics chloramphenicol, aflatoxin, and AOZ, which increase production in livestock and sea animals.
The scrutiny is to ensure the products meet both Japanese and world safety standards.
European and other developed countries, have a no tolerance policy for these chemicals in food.
In response to Japan’s initiative, VASEP has called for Vietnam’s domestic exporters to pay more attention to food quality inspection during manufacturing and processing before releasing it for consumption.
