Print This Page More Vietnamese exporters OK’d to ship fish to the EU
VIETNAM - The European Union (EU) has officially added the names of 38 enterprises to the list of enterprises eligible to export seafood to the bloc, according to the local industry organization.Mid-last month the European Commission (EC) introduced EU amendments on aquaculture imports, contributing to raise the number of Vietnamese exporters allowed to ship fisheries to the union to 209, said the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processor (VASEP).
Under the EU amendments to the new common regulation mechanism on food hygiene, seafood products imported from Vietnam would be examined and granted with hygiene and quality certificates by domestically authorized offices instead of by the EU.
Vietnam National Fisheries Assurance and Veterinary Association (NAFIQUAVED) is the agency recognized by the EU as the official seafood quality examination body in Vietnam.
Additionally, the EU’s 25 member countries adopted a common regulation instead of each having its own inspections as previously.
