Intervet Plays Active Role At CAA2

Given the importance of the event, Intervet actively participated in the symposium, joining a number of prominent organizations such as World Aquaculture Society (WAS), Network of Asia-Pacific Centres of Aquaculture (NACA) and Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) as the Supporting Organizations.

Several staff from Intervet Norbio Singapore and Intervet International attended the symposia where they shared their research, field findings and experience in fish health in Asia and Europe.

During the symposium, several papers were presented by Intervet staff and their collaborators. These were as follows:

• Health management practices for cage aquaculture in Asia - a key component for sustainability
  By Zilong Tan, Cedric Komar and William Enright of Intervet. This paper was given as one of the keynote presentations.
  
  
• Impact of infection with capsalid monogeneans in marine fish cultured in Asia
  By Leong Tak Seng (LTS Consultancy, Malaysia), Li Anxing (Sun Yat-sen University, P.R. China) and Zilong Tan.
  
  
• A global success story of cage-based aquaculture - salmon farming and the technology of vaccination, key to sustainability
  By Alistair Brown and William Enright of Intervet. Alistair also served on the Expert Panel for an open forum involving the business sector, farmers, government officers, scientists, NGOs and other stakeholders to tackle practical issues related to cage culture.
  
  
• Disease surveillance in marine fish farmed in Guangdong, China
  By Li Anxing, Weng ShaoPing, He Jiangguo (Sun Yat-sen University), Lauke Labrie, Ellen Ho, L. Grisez, Z. Tan (Intervet) and Chen Wen (Guangdong Fisheries Technological Extension Centre, P.R. China).
