Certified products can now carry the Friend of the Sea seal of approval.

Corfu Sea Farm produces sea-bream (Sparus aurata) and sea-bass (Dicentrarchus labrax). The aquaculture site is located in the bay of Vathì, on the island of Corfu, characterized by the presence of quite strong deep water currents and low temperatures.

The potential environmental impacts are managed and controlled properly, monitoring water parameters, preventing impact on surrounding ecosystem, managing waste appropriately. An efficient traceability system is in place, so that broodstock, laid eggs and fry are fully traced.

"We at Corfu Sea Farm respect the environment and deeply believe in sustainable development,” explains Mr Sotiris Papadopoulos, manager of Corfu Sea Farm.

“We are particularly fond of the Friend of the Sea certification, as it provides an international third party confirmation of our full engagement to sustainability."
