Print This Page Salmones Mainstream plant workers vote to strike
CHILE - Following the wave of protests and strikes which has affected Chile's aquaculture industry, over 600 workers from Salmones Mainstream´s 11 salmon ongrowing plants, operations centre and processing plant have voted to strike.The strike, which begins today and is said to be legal, follows similar action at AquaChile, Spanish Cultivos Toralla, and other seafood processing plants in Chile.
Rosa Bahamondes, president of Syndicates (Unions) Nº 1 and Nº 2, told FISHupdate: “Today, after sitting down to the negotiation table as we have been doing for over a week, Salmones Mainstream gave us their last offer which over 90% of our colleagues considered inadequate and miserly so.
