Print This Page Catfish shipped to Australia must be labelled ‘basa’
VIETNAM - The ‘Basa’ label must be applied to all Vietnamese catfish exports to Australia, announced Vietnam’s National Fisheries Quality Assurance and Veterinary Directorate (Nafiqaved).Based on the list of standards for seafood trade names released by the Australian Fish Names Committee, all catfish of the Pangasiidae family must be labelled as ‘basa’ when exported to Australia.
Also related to Australia bound exports, the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) announced it will prohibit use of carbon monoxide (CO) in seafood processing.
