Subpesca Highlights Progress of Coquimbo Reconstruction Project

CHILE - Less than a year after the earthquake and subsequent tsunami that hit the Region of Coquimbo and north central areas of the country, the Undersecretariat of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Subpesca) has delivered an update on the major reconstruction advances in the "Coquimbo Restarts Programme".

The initiative was launched by the Ministry of Economic Development and Tourism and its contribution accounted for $624,554,900 pesos.

The programme includes 14 projects to support the productive activity of the fisheries and aquaculture sectors.

Eleven of the projects focus on repairing port infrastructure and the artisanal fishing fleet and the other three are working to recover the processing plant in Coquimbo and oyster farms in Tongoy.
