Vietnam a seafood sector ready to start

VIETNAM - Marine fish farming is still undeveloped in Vietnam. Besides, Vietnam now needs high-tech systems for marine fishing and its fishing fleet.

A group of Norwegian companies in June seized the opportunity to gain more insight into what is to become a big market from the VIETFISH 2006 exhibition and the ensuing study tour arranged by Innovation Norway in Hanoi.

From 14th-16th June 2006, VIETFISH 2006 took place at Ho Chi Minh International Exhibition and Convention Center with 131 exhibitors from 15 countries. The show attracted around 40,000 visitors during the 3 days exhibition.

The Norwegian pavilion represented Norwegian aquaculture technologies, seafood products and a marine media company with representatives from 7 companies, e.g Orsta Aqua Systems AS, PHARMAQ AS, Fiskeriforskning, Sea Star International AS, MMC Tendos, Norwegian Seafood Export Council and Intrafish Media AS.
