Print This Page The cod of the future – Live!
NORWAY - Do you wonder how cod breeding really takes place? Now you can watch the entire process on video.![]() |
In the new video presentation of the Cod Breeding Programme at Fiskeriforskning, you can follow the development of the cod from the time they are eggs all the way until they become fathers and mothers to the next generation of breeding cod.
The video shows how the farmed cod develop from the fry stage until they are put in farming cages in the sea, and until they finally end up on our dinner plates.
All this action is taking place at the Norwegian Cod Breeding Centre in Tromsø. This facility has room for 300 cod families, and the scientists are working intensively to find the fish that will become the cod of the future.
