Seafood Holdings Appoints New MD

11 November 2016

UK - Stephen Oswald, CEO of Bidfresh is delighted to announce that Brian Hall has accepted the role as Managing Director of Seafood Holdings, a major company within Bidfresh, national suppliers of fish and seafood, meat and produce to national and independent caterers.

With over 30 years in the seafood business in varying roles, Mr Hall (56) joined Seafood Holdings as a director in 2008, and has developed his role within Bidfresh as Operations Director within Seafood since the company took over ownership in 2010, helping Seafood Holdings to grow successfully in the market place. He previously held many roles including a director with M & J Seafoods, during the company’s expansion in the nineties and early part of this century.

Commenting on his new appointment, Mr Hall says that one of the greatest challenges for Seafood Holdings going forward is to continue to integrate the new technology required for modern business without losing sight of traditional customer service values and trading ethos.

“The industry is changing, and we are bringing in technology-driven ordering systems, but as far as our customers are concerned, we’re only as good as the last delivery, we must never forget this. We have some of the best people in the industry in our team and I’m confident we will deliver on these challenges. Quality and service is everything, and our aim is to continue to always be our customers trusted advisor.”

Hall is also going to be increasing the company’s focus on driving the appeal of under-used and sustainable seafood species.

“This approach can bring many positives for fish on British menus despite the squeeze in margins presented by favourite species such as salmon. We are working closely with our customers and fishermen across the UK to help them to revise menus, encouraging them to look at new lines, bringing value to their menus as well as interest to their customers.”

Seafood Holdings operates 10 substantial businesses around the country, which are all BRC A accredited, each trading under its own locally-renowned brand, serving a total of over 14,000 spending customers, with 216 van routes and 7 lorries. Seafood Holdings supplies predominantly fresh fish, but also has an extensive range in frozen lines, plus luxury and delicatessen items, with coverage throughout the whole of the UK and Republic of Ireland.
