PHILIPPINE - The Philippine fishing company Tenpoint Manufacturing Corporation has recently concluded the Friend of the Sea certification renewal audit. Yellowfin tuna, fished and produced by the fishing company, can continue to display the official seal of approval.

Yellowfin tuna is caught in the Central Western part of the Pacific Ocean by means of traditional hand –lining, a selective fishing method that does not affect the seabed. All fleets operate in areas where the tuna stock is not overfished or overexploited.

Bycatch is also minimal and does not include any IUCN red listed species.

In addition, the company’s fleet does not include any IUU fishing vessel.

“The certification renewal is a confirmation of Tenpoint’s involvement and commitment towards a sustainable fishing which respects the marine environment,” says Tamotsu Sato, Tenpoint’s Operations Manager.

“For many years, our company has shared Friend of the Sea’s sustainability goals and we are proud to continue doing that in the future.”
