Print This Page House pushes ACEF extension to energize farm, fish sectors
THE PHILIPPINES - The House of Representatives is batting for the extension of the utilization period of the Agricultural Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (ACEF) to give the country’s farm, aquaculture and fisheries sectors more time to avail of assistance and build up their productivity as they gird for stiffer global competition."We still have high hopes the Senate would soon pass House Bill 3740, which seeks to prolong ACEFs application period by another 10 years through 2015," said Camarines Sur Rep. Luis Villafuerte, chairman of the House committee on aquaculture and fisheries and one of the bills authors.
"Agriculture deserves a lot of support. It has been a big driver of national economic and employment growth," Villafuerte said.
