Seafood exports to reach US$3 billion

VIETNAM - The seafood industry of Vietnam witnessed dynamic growth and quick expansion in export markets in the January – August period.

According to the Ministry of Trade, Vietnam earned US$2.008 billion from seafood exports in the first 8 months of this year. With such a excellent result, the target set by the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

This figure is already near the target set by the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP). Recent forecasts say an export value of US$3 billion for the whole year is within the reach of the seafood industry.

In 2003 and 2004, the sector did not obtain its export goals but last year, it did better than targeted. The performance will be even better this year.
