Print This Page Viet Nam seafood exports rise 21%
VIETNAM - The value of the nation’s seafood exports is set to top US$2.3 billion in the first nine months of this year, a 21 per cent increase over the same period last year, including $292 million in September alone, the Ministry of Fisheries has reported.During these months, frozen fish products have been key export goods, with an export volume of 302,300 tonnes, followed by frozen shrimp products at 106,400 tonnes. Besides that, Viet Nam’s fisheries exporters sold cuttlefish, octopus, and other kinds of seafood.
The ministry has predicted that demand for seafood on the world market will increase by the end of this year, and that seafood exports will fetch good prices, so domestic seafood exporters have won large export projects.
Key export products of those projects will be frozen shrimp, fish and cuttlefish. The ministry has predicted that Japan will be the largest importer of Vietnamese seafood, followed by the US, China, the European Union, Russia and Eastern European countries.
