Print This Page Credit assistance needed to boost fish production
THE PHILIPPINES - Credit assistance to fishpond operators is needed to enhance the production of fishery resources in Davao City, said Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (Bfar) regional director George Campeon.Campeon said that at present, there is no such assistance being given by the agency to fishpond operators.
"I think this is what is lacking now, but of course we cannot provide it, we can only prepare for fishpond operators' technical studies and assist them in their production activities," Campeon explained.
He said the credit assistance program needs to be studied thoroughly. Campeon said they couldn't implement similar project for lack of funds. Even as this developed, Campeon said fisheries resource in Southern Mindanao is still going well so far.
