New technologies showcased
PHILIPPINES - There’s a new livelihood center in Quezon City where people interested in farming and gardening can get free consultation on various topics.This is the Herbal Garden & Livelihood Center at the Quezon City Memorial Circle, a joint project of the Quezon City Parks Development Foundation headed by Atty. Charito Planas and the Agri-Aqua Network International (AANI) which is engaged in market development and transfer of livelihood technologies in agriculture and fisheries.
This Saturday, the Federation of Goat and Sheep Producers of the Philippines will showcase their improved animals and will conduct free consultation for those who would like to know more about small ruminants production. Aquaculture experts like Max Arada and Jojo Baldia will also be on hand for free consultations on fisheries projects, such as production of tilapia, bangus, Pangasius, pompano and others.
There are showcases of saline tilapia and giant gourami by the Mercado Farms which produces fingerlings of tilapia that can be cultured in brackish waters.
Gerry Manaog will also be showcasing live hito which the public can buy at farmgate prices.
Pol Rubia will also be selling newly harvested leafy greens such as lettuce and spinach. There is a showcase of organically grown vegetables right at the Herbal Garden and Livelihood Center. Visitors can observe how the vegetables are grown organically.
