Print This Page US duty on Norwegian salmon may be lifted
NORWAY - There is now hope that the US will remove its 25% punitive duty on Norwegian salmon, which has been in force for more than 15 years, NRK reports. |
The reason the tax was introduced was that it was alleged by the US industry that Norwegian exporters sold the salmon cheaper abroad than at home.
At the time, Norwegian salmon was dominating the US market, and the first year the export to the US dropped from 12,000 tons to 5,000 tons.
