Print This Page Thai Ag Bureau speeds up drafting of Organic Marine Shrimp Production standards
THAILAND - The National Bureau of Agricultural Commodity and Food Standards (ACFS) is expediting the drafting of “Organic Marine Shrimp Production” standards.Somchai Charnarongkul, the deputy director of ACFS, said AFCS is speeding up the drafting as the global demand for marine shrimps, especially tiger prawns, has increased. He expects that the “Organic Marine Shrimp Production” standards will boost the competitiveness of local shrimp farmers in the global market.
Those participating in the standards drafting include representatives of the government and private sectors, farmers, academics, and shrimp experts. ACFS will submit the draft to the MOAC minister for approval before enforcing it in February 2007.
